Board of Deacons

The office of deacon as set forth in Scripture is one of "sympathy, witness, and service, after the example of Jesus Christ." (Book of Order, G.-6.0400) Following this understanding, the Deacons' ministry of service is reaching out to the needs of others, particularly to those who are confined at home, to nursing homes and to hospitals. We seek to be warm, caring, and supportive in the following ways:

  • visiting members in nursing homes and hospitals, and the homebound, and deliver church bulletins and sanctuary flowers.

  • assisting families at times of bereavement by sending cards.

  • providing a meal for the bereaved family after funeral services.

  • sending cards to members who have experienced illness or other difficulties.

  • preparing and serving Communion as scheduled throughout the year.

  • taking Communion to our church members who are homebound or those in nursing homes.

  • delivering Christmas and Easter flowers to those unable to attend services.

  • sponsoring the all church caroling to nursing homes and homebound members.

  • buying the rose placed in the sanctuary in honor of a birth.

  • providing a meal for the bereaved family after funeral services.

  • supporting the devotional booklets.

  • providing financial support for families in need.
